Push Media
The interaction between the client and the server on the Web is known as a pull relationship since the browser has to first request the document. Push media, on the other hand, allows a server to send data to a client without the client requesting it. One example of a push medium is television, because TV stations send information out regardless of whether anyone is tuned in. Push media is controversial because it overrides the request mechanism that, accurately or not, has been associated with the individualism of the Web.
